The 13th International Fatigue Conference took place in Hiroshima, Japan, from November 6 to 10. This conference, specifically dedicated to the subject of fatigue, was established in 1981 under the initiative of Professor A.F. Blom from Sweden. The first congress was held in Stockholm, and since then, it has been organized every three years in different cities, until it returned to Stockholm in 2002. In light of other major conferences, such as the International Conference on Mechanical Behavior of Materials (ICM) and the International Conference on Fracture (ICF), which are held every four years, the International Fatigue Congress transitioned to a four-year cycle starting in 2002. Since then, it has been held in various locations, including Atlanta in 2006, with the most recent prior meeting in Poitiers, France, in 2018. The Congress brings together scientists and engineers engaged in experimental, theoretical, and characterization research on fatigue fracture mechanisms, providing a unique environment for exchanging discoveries, ideas, and experiences in the field.
